New Mexico In Depth has brought on a fundraising coordinator to help build a sustainable future for the organization.

Felicia McCracken, who has gained an impressive amount of experience through fundraising and coordinating events at New Mexico State University and for other nonprofits, will help NMID diversify its funding sources as it looks to grow into an organization that can have a long-term impact in New Mexico.

McCracken most recently worked as a senior alumni relations officer at NMSU. Before that she held positions at the university working on donor services, coordinating special events, coordinating recruitment and directing events for the NMSU president. She has also worked with the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce and Las Cruces Convention and Visitors Bureau, and she’s a past student regent at NMSU.

“We’re lucky to have an individual of Felicia’s talents and experience at NMID. Already, she has proven invaluable, sharing insights and important lessons about how to go about growing our organization for the future,” said NMID Executive Director Trip Jennings.

NMID is currently funded primarily through a two-year, $500,000 grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. It has also received grants from the McCune and Santa Fe Community foundations and donations from a number of individuals. But NMID has unfunded and underfunded lines in its budget and must also work to ensure it isn’t too dependent on any single funding source.

“When I learned about NMID and its goals and founders, I immediately knew this was a cause with which I could identify,” McCracken said. “I hope to contribute to the mission of NMID by committing my time and skills to help make it sustainable and free up Trip and Heath to focus on their passion and talent for ambitious journalism. I am excited to put my background in fundraising, donor engagement and community outreach to work for a worthy purpose.”
