NMID wins journalistic awards

NMID logoNew Mexico In Depth won 1st place in overall excellence for an organization at the 2015 New Mexico Press Women Communications Awards Banquet, held Saturday night at Ghost Ranch. The overall honor came after NMID collected awards in several categories, including 1st, 2nd, 3rd place and honorable mention in Enterprise Reporting.

A number of awards NMID won were shared with media partners, including the Las Cruces Sun-News and the Santa Fe Reporter. Overall, NMID netted seven awards and two honorable mentions.

It goes without saying NMID is proud of the reporters and the partnerships that enabled us to do the work that was honored this weekend. Great job, everyone!

Here is a list of awards NMID picked up from the New Mexico Press Women’s Association:

1st place, Enterprise Reporting – Lindsey Anderson, Protecting Children series

2nd place, Enterprise Reporting – Bryant Furlow,  Health  guides  work  to  convince  Native  Americans  to  try   Obamacare;  Obamacare  gives  tribes  opportunity  for  economic   growth.

3rd place, Enterprise Reporting – Andi Murphy,

Honorable Mention –Sandra Fish, Meet New Mexico’s Top 10 Political Donors

 2nd place, News Story, Online Publication, Laura Paskus, Funding  would  boost  Native  youth  suicide  prevention

2nd place, Continuing coverage or unfolding news, The Medicaid Freeze (New Mexico In Depth’s continuing coverage of the shakeup of the state’s behavioral health system)

1st place, Editorial/Opinion – Online publication – Heath Haussamen, We  must  treat  Central  American  immigrants  humanely
