The feting of the 2016 Legislature has begun

New Mexico In Depth reported this week that lobbyists and their employers spent more than $818,000 wining, dining and gifting lawmakers, while also anteing up more than $1 million in campaign contributions.

Well, it’s a new legislative year, the social calendar is full and the first spending reports are trickling in.

Lobbyists and organizations are required to report to the Secretary of State any spending of more than $500 within 48 hours.

Here are the first reports:

  • Presbyterian Health Plan spent $9,415 on a dinner at La Posada Wednesday for lawmakers, the governor and the lieutenant governor.
  • The New Mexico Federation of Labor spent $4,943 on a reception for elected officials Tuesday at the Center for Progress and Justice.

Also Wednesday, Eastern New Mexico University held a reception at the Inn and Spa at Loretto and the New Mexico Association of Counties held a reception and dance at the Eldorado Hotel and Spa.
